At CareGivFam, we believe families deserve real peace of mind. We built this private circle to reduce chaos and protect what matters most—your loved ones and your time together. This Privacy Policy explains exactly how we collect, use, protect, and handle your information. We keep it simple, transparent, and family-first.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect what is necessary to run your private Care Circle.
Information you give us directly:
- Account details: name, email, password (when you sign up or log in)
- Care Circle details: elder's name (or nickname), family member names and roles
- Care coordination data: calendar events, medication schedules and logs, tasks, uploaded documents (PDFs, photos of records, insurance cards), wellness check-in notes
- Chat messages and photos/files sent in Circle Chat or Care Team Chat
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe—we never see your full card details)
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data: when you log in, which features you use (to improve the app)
- Device and browser information (for PWA functionality and security)
- IP address and location (only when you voluntarily trigger the emergency button or enable optional features)
We do not require or store full medical diagnoses, lab results, or any data that would make us a HIPAA-covered entity. We focus strictly on family coordination.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data only to deliver the service you signed up for:
- Create and operate your private Care Circle
- Send reminders, notifications, and activity updates
- Enable real-time chat and photo sharing within your circle
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Provide the Elder view exactly as designed (simple, limited, and respectful)
- Improve the app based on anonymous usage patterns
- Respond to support requests or legal requirements
We never use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
3. Sharing and Disclosure
Your data stays private. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Within your Care Circle: Family members and the elder (where appropriate) see only what their role allows. The Care Team Chat is completely invisible to the elder.
- Service providers: Trusted partners who help us run the service (Supabase for database and chat, Stripe for payments, Resend for emails, Twilio for SMS in paid tiers, Cloudflare for hosting). All are bound by strict data-processing agreements and cannot use your data for their own purposes.
- Legal reasons: If required by law, court order, or to protect safety (for example, responding to the emergency button).
We never sell, rent, or share your personal or care data with marketers, advertisers, or any unrelated companies.
4. Data Security
We take security seriously so you can feel safe:
- All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- Supabase Row Level Security ensures no one outside your circle (or the correct role inside it) can access your information
- Regular security audits and updates
- You control access: you can remove members or delete the entire circle instantly
If we ever discover a breach that affects your data, we will notify you within 72 hours.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You are in control:
- Access, download, or export all your circle data at any time (one-click export in settings)
- Correct or delete any information
- Delete your entire Care Circle and all associated data (permanent and irreversible after 30 days)
- Opt out of non-essential emails and notifications
- Cancel your subscription anytime (no long contracts)

6. Children's Privacy
CareGivFam is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe we have, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
7. International Users
If you are outside the United States, your data is stored in the United States. By using CareGivFam, you consent to this transfer and understand that U.S. laws apply.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and post the new date at the top. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
